Come Surf With Us!
Moonstone Family Surf Club is a Humboldt County family focused surf club.
We help kids and families build ocean skills, confidence, and connection through fun, safe surf programs.
Our sessions blend ocean safety, hands-on learning, teamwork, and beach culture so every kid can grow both in and out of the water.
Through beach cleanups, community surf days, and hands-on activities, we teach kids to care for the coast, support each other, and give back to the place we love.
Afterschool Surf Club
We operate a regular coach-supported after-school youth surf club that provides consistent, structured ocean-based learning opportunities.
On-location instruction with direct in-water supervision, allowing for safe, guided surf practice and progressive skill development.
The program serves children ages 5–13.
Regular sessions are held twice per week from 3:30 - 6:00 at Moonstone Beach.

Surf Skills
Local, family-centered surf clubs that meet regularly to learn, surf, and grow together.
Progressive coaching that supports youth across all experience levels.
A strong focus on ocean awareness, safety, and emotional self-regulation.
Supportive in-water mentorship that builds confidence, physical strength, and focus.
Surfing becomes both a skill and a mindfulness practice, teaching balance, resilience, and the ability to stay present in dynamic ocean environments.
Ocean & Coastal Ed
We integrate marine science, climate education, environmental stewardship, and cultural learning into every program.
Participants engage with the ocean as both a living classroom and shared community space, strengthening their connection to coastal ecosystems and local traditions.
Youth develop scientific understanding, environmental awareness, and stewardship skills through hands-on, place-based learning experiences.
Building Community
We believe sustainable youth development is strongest when families and communities are engaged as active partners.
Moonstone Family Surf Club encourages parent and caregiver involvement through volunteer coaching, program support roles, and family-based learning activities that extend program impact beyond the beach.
All after-school surf programs are volunteer-led and provided at low or no cost to participating families, ensuring equitable access to coastal education opportunities.

Surf Travel Campouts
Our Youth Surf Campouts are weekend coastal adventures designed to introduce young participants to surfing, ocean safety, and community connection in a supportive outdoor setting.
These trips take place at sandy-bottom beach breaks selected for their beginner-friendly conditions, with waves that are typically smaller and more manageable for new surfers and bodyboarders.
Each campout is designed to be accessible, confidence-building, and fun - creating a positive first surf travel experience.

Beach Cleanups & Restoration
We offer hands-on coastal service projects that engage youth, families, and community members in caring for Humboldt County's shoreline and dune ecosystems.
Beach Cleanups focus on removing marine debris while learning about pollution sources and their impacts on ocean health. Activities are designed to be welcoming, educational, and accessible for all ages.
Dune Restoration Projects support habitat recovery along local coastal dunes by removing invasive, non-native grasses that threaten native plants, wildlife, and natural sand movement.
